  Introducing Myself...

  i just wanted to introduce myself and share my verbose story.

  my name is kyria, i'm 29 years old, originally from the pawtucket/lincoln rhode island congregation in the states.

  i found this board yesterday, and am completely blown away by what an amazing place it is.

  I'm Perfect, You're Doomed - a review

  "i'm perfect, you're doomed" by kyria abrahams, 2009, touchstone.. if you want a way to get people out of that horrible cult, easily, quickly and expeditiously, then here is how to do that.. i can say with a vote of confidence that anyone who reads this book will never and i mean never become a dub.

  dubs who read it (assuming they have at least one or two brain cells left) will run from their religion like flies on shit when you pour bleach on it and blow it up with dynamite.. toss away crisis of conscience, apocalypse delayed, 30 years a watchtower slave and all those other very nice books and read this one.

  i read those and all the other ones.

  ...drink a lot?

  gosh i love wine.

  i like a good bottle of wine each night, and i have a high tolerance to alcohol, though i never drank much (except for a couple of times with the vodka, but i don't keep that stuff in the house anymore, way too dangerous) as a jw because getting slightly happy is a 'sin'.

  Julia,

  You aren't bound by Watchtower rules and judgements, but you should give thought to modern medical advice and moderation.

  No one benefits from excessive consumption of alcohol. Ethanol is a toxin that in itself has NO health benefits.

  The health benefis of wine are identical to the health benefis of grape juice, but the health benefits can be outweighed by excessive consumption of EITHER wine or grape juice.

  My doctor would suggest that 750 ml a day is at least twice as much as wisdom would dictate.

  Please take good care of yourself.

  Type and Antitype

  i was looking for july 15th watchtower article today to use the words type and antitype but they didn't.

  i wonder when they stopped using those phrases as it seems to be a few years.

  who was the person who liked to use that word like the person who loved to use antediluvian?

  I think the type/antitype hoopla came with the Dispensationalist Dectective Kit that 8-year-old Fred Franz ordered with coupons from his Quacker Oats cereal box way, way, back in de day, and he learned how to construct fold-out charts with grand arcs connecting the distant past with the unforeseeable future, like ink playing leapfrog.

  i would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .

  and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

  The old big orange "Paradise" book

  anyone remember that?

  i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images,like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway,that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful,bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple,made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.

  Oh yeah, I was there. The book title was lifted from Hebrews 6:16-18 "For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us..."

  It was explained to me that the two things in which God could not lie were his WORD and his DEEDS.

  Everything else he lied about.

  so gosh like at least 6 months ago i think i was perusing jw survey and saw rhe anonymous targeting the wt video and thought "sweet!!!

  " ...so i googled it, and nothing came up but the actual you tube video and the thing on jw survey (i posted a comment on jw survey asking about it but nobody repied.... so since it was never spoken of again i guess it was a ho-ax?

  just one dude make a fake vidoe and anonymous was never really after the wt?
